Welcome to The Wendy House
Background:
The Wendy House was established under the name of Emerson Valley Playgroup in the 1980's. We became known as 'The Wendy House' in 2007. Wendy Cross the playgroup's Manager (playgroup leader) has worked at the playgroup since 1991.
Emerson Valley Playgroup is a charitable organisation (registered under CRN.1056708) and also a member of the Pre-School Learning Alliance, which is a voluntary organisation providing support and guidance for pre-school groups nationwide. A management committee of elected parents help to employ staff and work with Wendy to manage The Wendy House.
The Setup of the Playgroup:
The Wendy House aims to provide a safe, caring and stimulating environment to encourage a happy and relaxed atmosphere where children can achieve their full potential. The Wendy House gives children the opportunity to interact with people outside the family and develop confidence with other children in a wider environment.
The Wendy House uses the whole building and garden area of the River Valley Centre. The building includes a main hall, a small porch area, a 'story' room, kitchen and toilets.
The large 'L' shape garden includes an undercover area, which is used all year round. The garden has an artificial grass surface. During outdoor play the children move freely between the building and garden, allowing them freedom and choice.
The Wendy House operates an 'open door' policy, which means you are welcome to visit us at any time. We pride ourselves on a relaxed and happy atmosphere (visitors often comment on this). So why not come and see for yourself.
